Simple Search
The Simple Search allows you to perform a variety of searches. You can specify the search terms, the
type of search and a single "quick" limit. You can also select from the
main list of limits before performing your search.
To perform a search, you must do the following:
- Enter the words you want to search for in the Enter Search Terms: field
- Select the type of search that you want to perform by choosing a search type from the
Select Search Type: list.
- Keyword Search: = searches for words in any field
- Author: = browses author headings, enter last name first
- Exact Title: = searches for the title of a book as entered
- LC Subject Headings: = browses Library of Congress subject headings assigned to item records
- Journal/Magazine/Newspaper Title: = searches for the title of a journal, etc as entered
- Boolean Search (and, or, not): = must select if you use any of these operators to connect your search terms
- Call Number: = browses the call number list
- (Optional) Choose what type of limit you want applied to the search by either 1) selecting a limit from the
Quick Limit menu or by 2) clicking the Limits button and choosing from the entire list of limits.
- (Optional) Specify how many entries of the search results you want to have display on each page by clicking the
drop-down arrow and selecting the number of records in the ...records per page field.
- Click the Submit button to execute the search. You can also click the Reset
button to clear the information entered into the page.
