My Preferences

My Preference sets up a default search screen for you to use when you search the catalog. You will need to log in everytime you enter the catalog to use your search settings. The preferences can be changed at any time.

You can access the My Preferences screen by clicking on the My Preferences button.

If you are not logged in, this will take you to the Login screen. Login now. Once logged in, this will activate the MyPreferences screen.

The default values which your library has chosen will be selected on the My Preferences screen. There are three sections which can be configured in any combination. These 3 three sections are: Search Type, Number of Records Per Page, and Catalogs.

To change My Preferences:

Set your preferences per section:

A. Search Type-

  1. Select one of the radio button options (Simple Search, Advanced Search, Course Reserve,) as your default search type. The button you select will determine the drop-down box options available to you. You can only select one type of search.
  2. Select the desired options from the drop-down box(es) next to the radio button you selected. Only the drop-down boxes next to the radio button you selected will be used for your preferences.

B. Records Per Page-

  1. Select the desired number of records to display, per page, from the drop-down box. This is the number of titles that will display per page of your search results a.k.a. Titles List

C. Catalogs-

  1. Select all catalogs you wish to connect to when performing a search. You can select multiple catalogs by holding down the CTRL key while selecting. You can also clear catalogs from your selection by holding down CTRL while selecting them.

Remember that all of these catalogs (if you select more than one) will be connected to each time you perform a search, until or unless you go to the Other Catalogs page and change them, or change them in your My Preferences. To avoid slowing your searches down, only select catalogs you want to connect to in the course of your normal searching. For special catalogs you only search once in a while, go to the Other Catalogs page and add those before searching.

When finished, click the Save button. You will receive a Preferences Were Saved OK message indicating that your preferences were saved.
